    Abstract

The regulation of taxis in Ireland has changed dramatically since the onset of the Great Recession. Since 2010 there has been an indefinite prohibition on new taxi (and hackney)2 licences, but not for wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAV).3 Taxi licences can no longer be traded. Policy has favoured the full-time, as compared to the part-time, taxi driver.
