Abstract
[From the Introduction]. This paper examines the evolution of this ‘Mediterranean diplomacy’ and compares various proposals and initiatives on the basis of two fundamental criteria: participation and content. It argues that the initiatives characterized by a global approach to Mediterranean problems and issues in terms of both participation and content, are likely to becoming the predominant feature of Mediterranean diplomacy in the years to come.
