Abstract
If one does not prevent conflicts from escalating, one will have to suffer the consequences, as with the refugee crisis today. At given times military interventions are the indispensable catalyst to achieve diplomatic solutions. Belgium has the political will to contribute to such operations as reliable partner. This however requires a defence budget expressing solidarity as well.
