Abstract

This study has two aims. The first is to use results from the Living in Ireland Surveys from 1994 to 1998 to describe trends in poverty and changes in the profile of those experiencing it over that period. The second, taking advantage of the panel nature of this survey, is to look for the first time at the dynamics of poverty in Ireland, at transitions into and out of poverty from one year to the next and the overall distributions of time in poverty over the five years.
