Oral Question 0-0125/94 pursuant to Rule 40 of the Rules of Procedure. Subject: Conclusion of the Uruguay Round and future activities of the WTO: 1. How does the Commission plan to implement on behalf of the Union the undertakings given in the Marrakesh Final Act (reduction in customs duties, agricultural and textile products) and monitor their implementation by the other parties to GATT?; 2. Has enough progress been made in those areas in which negotiations are still under way after the conclusion of the Uruguay Round (financial services, telecommunications, civil aircraft, steel) to justify the retention of the deadlines set (mid-1995 or 1996)?; 3. How does the Commission plan to ensure that the Union continues to present a united front in all areas in the new World Trade Organization as it has done in GATT?; 4. What steps does the Commission plan to take to encourage, in the forum provided by the WTO, the incorporation of environmental considerations, minimum social standards and international competition rules into the world trading system? Session Documents 1994, Document B4-0198/94, 18 November 1994
