Abstract

The experience gained in the province of Trento provides an opportunity to reflect on the possible benefits of the practice of social partnership. At a time when the social role of the union and other intermediary bodies is heavily criticised and weakened, the vision of the functions of the social concertation in Trentino can overcome many stereotypes. When this method is not limited to concerted improvised practices, but becomes a stable instrument of government and an institutional vehicle to spread social responsibility, participation of the social partners in the construction of public policies can be a useful factor in terms of growth and social cohesion.
