Abstract
In September 1968 the Economic and Social Research Institute accepted a commission by the Minister of Labour to undertake a survey of views on income differentials and income increases to provide material for an assessment of prevailing attitudes to questions of pay and their bearing on the development of an incomes policy, a task which was in accord with the Institute’s objective of building up a picture of Irish society by gathering basic information needed by policy-makers.
